There are types of abuse that may not be as visible as physical violence because they don’t leave cuts or bruises. The Teen Power and Control Wheel can help us understand different kinds of emotional, sexual, and verbal abuse.

Abuse leaves other marks. Emotional, physical, verbal, and sexual abuse can have long-term consequences. Victims of abuse may develop anxiety, stress, depression, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, medical problems, or problems at school and work.
